MLK Weekend
Happy Friday Devo Families,
Hi Devo Parents,
Hard to believe we are already into the middle of January. Time flies by when you are having fun.... and hopefully that is exactly what all your kids are telling you about their days in Devo!
So far this season:
All ages & skill levels have been focusing on several common themes: Balance, Athletic Stance, Speed Control through Turn-Shapes, and Upper/Lower body separation. These common topics are important at every level of skiing, so our coaches spend a lot of time in the early season familiarizing our athletes with the terminology and then how to execute. The teams will continue to build on these fundamentals throughout the season as they have access to more terrain and skills stations and practice courses.
Overall, in just a few short weeks, we have seen some great improvements and are excited to watch further development/improvements in the coming months.
Plans for this weekend:
We are scheduled for our first Devo Team Race: 'The Fun Race' on Sunday (1/18)
Race course practice will be available all day Saturday for participants. Our coaches will work with the athletes to introduce them to getting out of the start house, as well as, the proper way to ski a race course, how to have fun in a race course, or how to be competitive (if that's an athlete's goal).
The event on Sunday will be on Charlie’s Chase Trail, in a Duel Giant Slalom (GS) course format.
Each participant will have (1) run -- which will be timed (for fun)
The only goal of this event is to make sure every participant has FUN!
For Planning: Below is the schedule for groups.

Please note that these are approximate times. Actual run times may be ahead or delayed depending on the pace of the race.
It is recommended that parents be at the finish for watching/cheering about 5 minutes ahead of the below times.
Important to understand: Parents and friends may only watch the race from outside the finish fence. Any person entering the race course will cause a stop of the event.
We do recommend cheering, yelling, and as much cow-bell as you can bring!
If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with your athletes coaches or come find us at drop-off or pick-up. We are always there: Black Jackets - Pink or Blue helmets.
As an overall reminder, please be aware of your group's departure time - coaches leave promptly at their scheduled departures times. Using Stack, please let your coach know if you will be delayed so they can coordinate meeting you.
Due to the holiday weekend, which is expected to result in increased crowd levels, plan accordingly as parking & traffic may cause delays.
It is also recommended to let them know ahead of time if you are not planning on being there that day so they are not waiting. You have the option of chatting directly with your coach through the Stack Team App
***Note: The Development Program will not run on Monday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Think snow! See you all on Saturday AM.
