2/21-2/22
Hi Mogul Family,
Can a weekend get any better than it did last Saturday and Sunday? It appears we've made an impression on the Eastern Freestyle community with our amazing tailgating skills! Thank you all for the great tailgate preparation and for embracing our little Mogul Family. Then, what a day last Sunday! So much progression, so much sun, and so many runs on the course. It was great to see athletes dialing in their runs for the push towards championships.
This Weekend's Schedule: Our B/EQS Team is heading to Stratton for 3 days on their course on Suntanner. Mikey and Rob will be at Stratton for all three days. Check out the Event Sheet for details. Our A/ECS Team is heading to Vail's sister resort, Crotched, and PLaff will be there. I will be at Mount Snow, so athletes who are not competing on Saturday or Sunday will train with me at Mount Snow.
Monday Add-On Training, Feb 16th: We are posting all the videos from Monday's training to a private YouTube channel. That should get done this morning so athletes can dissect their runs and airs for their comps this weekend. I'll share the YouTube Channel link on our team's WhatsApp Group.
Hey Laff, How Do the B Points Get Calculated for States and Eastern Champs?: Great question! The points list utility can be found at https://www.easternfreestyle.org/ > Competition > Rules & Rank > Select the discipline (Moguls) and the Central Region. Last year, they invited the top 40 Females and 60 Males to State Champs. This year will most likely be about the same ratio. The quotas change for Eastern Champs, where 100 are invited for Juniors (U13-U19), and 80 are invited for Young Guns (U7-U11).
Here are the rules explaining how points for an event are awarded and how the points list is calculated for invitations to State and Eastern Champs.
Rule EQS 3.2: The winner of each event earns 100 points on the EQS “B” level Eastern Points List (EPLs), and other competitors' points for the event are based on the individual scores relative to the winning score. For example, if the winner’s score is 60.00, 100 points are awarded, whereas if the second-place athlete’s score is 58.00, 92 points are awarded. (58.00/60.00 * 100 = 92 points.)
Rule EQS 3.4.1: Moguls athletes’ ranking will be based on the average points from their two best events through State Championships.
Rule EQS 3.4.2: Moguls athletes’ ranking will be based on the average points from their three best events to qualify for the East Coast Young Gun and Junior Freestyle Championships.
A Note About Corey: Corey needs to take some time off from the team for personal/family reasons. You may see him around the resort or even back with the team in a few weeks.
Peace, powder, and pancakes,
-Laff
