1/31-2/1

Hi Mogul Family,

I hope everyone fared well in the snow last Sunday & Monday - but I also hope you're ready to rock and roll this weekend. The conditions are going to be awesome.

Recap of Huntah: The mogul event at Hunter was a huge success. Athletes, coaches, and parents battled cold temps, snow, and too many people skiing in jeans and bike helmets.  We absolutely crushed it as a team, where athletes showed growth, personal best runs, and an abundance of medals. Corey, Rob, and Mikey are incredibly proud to have been part of such a strong team dynamic.  Several teams commented on how awesome it was to see our athletes consistently supporting their friends and teammates. Our team culture, from parents to athletes, really stood out.

This Weekend's Schedule: The A Team is off to Waterville to compete on the World Cup course on Lower Bobby's run this weekend.  Paul is leading the team at Waterville. The B/EQS Team will be at Mount Snow.  We will be finishing the ski-in of our course on Lower Ex ... and get some free-ski runs in the trees and maybe drop a few hidden cliffs! A huge thanks to Nancy Logan, Tim Dolan, Randy Barrows, and Andrew Lampron for the amount of snow made for the course and the time spent in the winch cat to get our course steeper than normal, and totally leveled.

Registration for Stratton: Registration for the Mogul event opens next Monday, 2/2, at 8:00 PM. For this event, men compete on Friday, 2/19 (of Presidents' Week), Women on Saturday, 2/20, and both men and women on Sunday, 2/21for Duals.

Reviewing Scores and Scorecards:
If any parents or athletes are interested in reviewing scores or scorecards, I'll be hanging out in the Ski Club after skiing on Saturday, and I'm happy to go over them.

"Hey Laff, Should We Tune Moguls Skis?"
The short answer is "Yes." Skis will perform better and more consistently if they are kept in good shape (tuned).  You don't need to go nuts with angles; a 1-degree bevel on the bottom and a 1-degree on the side is fine. Also, an athlete's speed will be consistent if the bases are waxed. A basic all-mountain tune at any local ski shop will work fine.

Live Scoring at Mogul Events:
Every event has Live Scoring that updates when scores are inputted.  The link is the same every week; you just have to find your event.  https://winfree.hfti.com/livescoring/.

Team Potluck Dinner on Feb 7th:
Thanks to Andrea for securing the Ski Club for a team potluck dinner. All family members are invited. Also, this is the Saturday of the B/EQS Event at Mount Snow and the A/ECS Event is at Stratton this day - so everyone should be able to make it!  Question: Can we get a Google Sheet going so we know what people are bringing?

Peace, powder, and pancakes,

-Laff
