Avery’s Mogul Rebellion Weekend (2/7-2/
Hi Mogul Family,
It is rock and roll time for hosting Avery's Mogul Rebellion. We've got lots of candy, plenty of snow, champagne on ice ... well sparkling water, and a new Dual Mogul start gate ready to go. After a few days of training on the course last weekend, I think our crew is ready to put down some runs. Also, congrats to our A skiers who competed on the steep World Cup course at Waterville last weekend. Awesome job navigating the same course that the best skiers in the world skied a few weeks earlier.
This Weekend's Schedule: Our A Team athletes are heading up the road to Stratton. The B/EQS Team is competing on our home course. We will not have a comp group for anyone not competing this weekend. More info about the B Competition below. It is going to be chilly this weekend, so please dress warmly.
Avery's Mogul Rebellion Info: It will be all-hands-on-deck this weekend with our event. Click here for the event sheet. The coaches will be at the mogul course all day, so we'll need the whole village to help manage athletes when they are not at the course.
Friday Training: The course will be open on Friday, around noon, to train. We may need some help running training. If anyone can help, head to the start area.
Registration Volunteers: Please meet Nancy in the Main Base across from Tony's Pizza at 7:15.
Athlete Check-in: Athletes should check in at 7:30 in the main base lodge across from Tony's Pizza to pick up their bibs. Athletes are responsible for getting their own bibs.
Getting on the Hill as a Team: Coaches will meet athletes at 8 AM in our normal spot to bring the team up to the course and stretch like normal, and prepare for the comp.
Athletes and Their Comp Runs: I ask that parents watch the time and help each other by making sure athletes get to the top of the course for their runs.
Create a Home Base: I will leave it to our village to figure out where our home base will be, but I assume we grab a corner in the Base Lodge to call our home for the weekend.
Videos: Since it will be super cold, we will need some help videoing each athlete from the bottom of the course. When you are at the bottom of the course, just let the coach know that you can help. Let's post all Comp videos to our WhatsApp channel so we can review them with athletes, and they can watch them on their own.
Athletes When They Are Not Competing: The best thing will be to have athletes take runs together in their pods (they know what this means) throughout the day so they stay loose and warm. Anyone not competing should stay with their pod and take runs.
Live Scoring at Mogul Events: Every event has Live Scoring that updates when scores are inputted. The link is the same every week; you just have to find your event. https://winfree.hfti.com/livescoring/.
Team Potluck Dinner on Saturday: Thanks to Andrea for securing the Ski Club for a team potluck dinner. All family members are invited. Also, this is the Saturday of the B/EQS Event at Mount Snow and the A/ECS Event is at Stratton this day - so everyone should be able to make it! At the Potluck, I'll go over scorecards with athletes and parents, so you have a better understanding of the judging aspect of the sport and how to use your scorecards to make improvements. Note that the Alpine Team will also be in the Ski Club for their team's potluck, so we are sharing the space. There will definitely be a musical chairs challenge happening.
More Team Jackets, Sweatshirts, and Beanies Oh My: Rachel is cool with doing another run of our team Rutt jackets and putting together a design for sweatshirts and beanies. Images are posted on our team WhatsApp channel, and a form will be posted in the near future.
Peace, powder, and pancakes,
